US online spending continues to rise

US consumer spending online is showing no sign of slowing, according to new figures released by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Forrester Research.

The monthly NRF/Forrester Online Retail Index found that US consumers spent USD3.4bn online in February - 13.3% more than the USD3bn spent in January.

Meanwhile the number of households shopping over the Internet increased to 13.5m in February from 13.3m in January, and per person spending increased to USD308 from USD228, E-Commerce Times reported.

Last year's figures showed a drop in online spending from January to February.
