Technology research firm Forrester Research has issued a number of predictions for European online trade in the future.
The company is expecting current online trade revenues of EUR77bn in 2001 to rise to EUR2.2tn in 2006. The figure for 2001 represents just 1% of total business trade while that of 2006 translates to 22% of the whole.
Forrester went on to state that the timing for rapid online trade growth will vary depending on the country. Scandinavia is expected to lead the way in online trading followed by France, Germany and the UK. Southern Europe will, according to the company, fail to take off.
