Irish Internet use increases but online purchases falls

Market research and business forecasting company AmArach Consulting has completed a study on Internet adoption in Ireland.
The company reported that 38% of the Irish adult population or 1.1m individuals had access to the Internet. Conversely, the number of Irish Internet users making online purchases actually dropped from 238,000 at the beginning of 2002 to 188,000 by the second quarter.
The survey was completed by polling 1,000 Irish adults aged 15 to 74 between April and May 2002.
