Despite an increase in the racist content online, there are few Finnish web sites with violent content, according to researcher Anna-Maria Pekkinen.

Finnish debate sites contain information and also provide standpoints and so-called "true stories", while some homepages contain racist jokes and other material. Pekkinen, who is a researcher at the journalism research unit at the Tampere university, has studied racist homepages and debate sites online during the past six months.

According to the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat's online edition, the number of racist pages on the Internet is increasing all the time and many give a very professional impression.
