Promotion and distribution service provider for video games Gigex Inc has reported that 24% of all US gamers prefer to buy their PC games online.

The research also showed that 70% of all those questioned bought up to 20% of their games online over the past year while 16% bought between 20% and 50%. When asked which was their favourite online retailer for purchasing games 16% said Bestbuy, 14% said Electronics Boutique and 13% said Walmart.

Gigex claimed that worldwide games revenues will rise from the USD27.8bn observed in 2001 to approximately USD38.1bn in 2010, of which 12.2% of that will be from online sales of games.

The survey was compiled through interviews with 5,000 US video and PC gamers in October 2002.
