Survey shows more American women than men shopped online for gifts in 2001 holiday period

A new survey carried out by Pew indicates that women overtook men in the US when it came to shopping online during the holiday season.
The results showed that out of the 29m Americans that bought gifts online, 58% were women. Average spend per consumer also went up from USD330 in 2000 to USD392 in 2001.
Other results from the survey show that a quarter of all US Internet users did some of their present buying online and that 58% of the same group used the web to compare prices before buying the goods in a shopping mall.
