New eMarketer research looks at e-mail marketing methods

According to eMarketer direct HTML remains the preferred e-mail marketing method of US advertisers.

In total, 54.2% of e-mail marketers used HTML format direct e-mail during Q4 2001, up from 34% in 2000. Newsletters or e-zines were used by 20.8% while text format direct e-mails were used by 16.7%.

Of all the e-mail marketing campaigns in Q4 2001, 57% were for retail and consumer companies.
