ICANN, the technical coordination body for the Internet, will no longer be accepting public representatives to its board.

The decision - approved by the board of directors with a vote of 18 to nil - comes in response to a proposal that board members should only be drawn from business and government organisations. A spokesperson for the board has claimed that the move is a major step forward and the right way to go.
