AOL IM 5.0 to allow animated backdrops for messages

Internet company AOL has begun trialling new Instant Messenger software.
Version 5.0 of AOL IM can provide animated backdrops to messages - currently four images are available, all based on the upcoming Eight Legged Freaks film from Warner Bros. The new feature is reportedly an extension of the Buddy icons feature which allowed users to download images and position them in the corner of the message window.
