According to US-based Internet research organisation Pew Internet, US Internet users are utilising online content to make life decisions.
The survey found that out of all those questioned, almost half claimed that the Internet played an important role in one of the 15 biggest decisions that they had ever made. Examples given include helping a loved one cope with illness or obtaining important financial advice.
It was also revealed that 41% of Internet users had received additional education or training during the last two years and almost a third used the Internet to do so. A further 28% changed jobs, a quarter of that number claiming that the Internet played an important part in the change.
The research took into account the replies from 1,415 Internet users in January 2002.
