INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

UK-based Internet service provider Pipex is offering consumers the chance to trade in their old dial-up modem for a DSL modem when they subscribe to Freeserve broadband.

The initiative follows an agreement formed between Pipex and Computer Aid International that will see the old dial-up modems being distributed to schools and community organisations in the third world.

Pipex will only accept external modems that come with their own power supply and cables. These will be exchanged for an Alcatel FDX310 ADSL Modem. The offer is available until 13 June 2002.
