China's Internet use increasing

A new survey has predicted that 78m Chinese people will be using the Internet by the end of 2003.

Currently China has the second largest number of Internet users after the US but this is expected to change as the country overtakes the US in four years' time.

The country began forming Internet links in 1994 yet one out of every nine Internet users is now Chinese and there are 32% more users in China than the same time last year.

The survey also showed that 60% of all those questioned said the Internet gave them a chance to criticise government policies.
