Research and advisory company Gartner Inc has predicted that online bill payment in the US will rise 38% to 40m users in 2003.
Because of this the company has said that banks should make online bill payment applications top priority in order to remain competitive.
A recent Gartner survey of online adults found that 79% of all the respondents viewed their bills at a biller's site while just 10% viewed them through a bank consolidation service. This is reportedly down to the fact that consumers can find their bills easier and the service is free.
