Music industry organisations in Europe and the US have called on ISPs to police their networks and prevent pirating activity.
The music industry says that ISPs should be expected to fight piracy which, claims music organisations, is causing CD sales to fall.
A recent study carried out by software company Websense has found that there are now approximately 130 unique peer-to-peer applications and around 89,000 web pages that are dedicated to file sharing - a 300% rise from one year ago.
