The Mobile Data Association has reported that 524m Internet pages were downloaded by mobile phones in the UK in January 2003.
This figure represents an increase of roughly 25% over December 2002 and is reportedly down to more new handsets being sold and marketing efforts that focus on the mobile Internet. The daily average for January 2003 was 17m, up from 13.5m in December 2002 and 12m in November 2002.
The Mobile Data Association has estimated that there are approximately 25m Internet-enabled mobile handsets in Britain.
