BT to power payment system on The Independent web site

UK telecomms company BT plc has had its online payment service chosen by UK newspaper The Independent so that the company can offer paid for content on its web site.
The BT click&buy service can be used by visitors to The Independent web site to pay for either a subscription or for pay-per-view content - such as commentary, reporting, archived material and crosswords.
A BT click&buy account can be set up by users registering their details. Any goods that are purchased from web sites can then be paid for by credit card, debit card, direct debit or added onto a monthly BT phone bill.
The financial terms of the agreement were not revealed.
