UK IT availability charity Citizens Online has asked the UK Government to provide laptops for every UK school child by 2010.

The charity claimed that a lack of computers is one of the main reasons that half of the population of the UK are still not online. Also, the organisation has suggested that the government subsidise the adaptive technology that is required by some disabled individuals to get online.

So far, the Essex education authority has declared plans to provide a digital learning device to all of its pupils by 2007.
