The Internet Media in Retail Group has announced that it expects a quarter of all UK shopping to be conducted online or by mobile devices in 2009.
The group goes on to state that a further 20% of retail purchases will be influenced by online research as shoppers view the product or service they require on the web.
Online shopping is expected to be a GBP17bn market in 2004 as 20m British consumers will make at least one purchase via the Internet. This will be brought about due to the increased take up of broadband connections and the roll out of the Internet Shopping is Safe scheme.
