A new bank e-mail scam has been observed that attempts to get customers of Westpac bank in Australia to reveal their banking security details.
The e-mail is mailed en-mass to Westpac bank customers and directs them to a fake link that looks like the company's normal web site, while the bank's genuine web site is loaded in a seperate window in the background. Users are then prompted to input their security details into the fake site which records the information, returns an error and then redirects the user to the bank's genuine web site.
Antivirus company Sophos has conveyed its concerns to the Australian High Tech Crime Centre.
