Site Confidence, a UK-based web site performance monitoring company, has revealed that London's Olympic bid web site (www.london2012.org) did not perform well in a recent site performance survey.

Site Confidence compared the download speeds of the five candidate cities wanting to host the 2012 Olympics: London, Paris, New York, Moscow and Madrid, over a period of four weeks.

According to Site Confidence, the research showed London to be nowhere near its personal best with an average download speed of 32 seconds and in another test the site was only free from downtime errors for 74% of the time. The comparison however also found that the performance of all of the cities' sites differed across the board with the worst site (Madrid) taking on average five times longer to load than that of New York (56 seconds to the US city's 9 seconds).
