Research and consulting firm Strategy Analytics Inc has forecast significant growth in broadband Internet connections in the Asia-Pacific region over the next five years.
The company expects the number of homes using broadband Internet services in the region to grow from the current 61m to 176m by 2010.
Although China is behind other Asian markets in broadband adoption, the size of its consumer market is likely to make it a key driver for broadband growth in the region. By 2010 the Chinese market is predicted to account for 64% of all residential broadband users in the Asia-Pacific region, up from less than 40% at present.
