US telecomms company Verizon Wireless announced on Monday (29 August) the launch of two services in greater Denver - one developed for the consumer market, the other for business customers.
Beginning on 29 August, V CAST, reportedly the first US 3G wireless broadband multimedia service for consumers, and BroadbandAccess, a wide-area wireless Internet access service, are available not only in greater Denver, but also from Ft. Collins to the north, to Parker and Highlands Ranch to the south, from Denver west to Boulder, and at Denver International Airport, the company claims. Both services run on the company's high-speed EV-DO (Evolution Data-Optimized) wireless broadband network.
According to the company, V CAST enables customers to access short video content on-demand, download and play 3D games, watch music videos and concert performances, view short video programs and other video content on their phones. V CAST VPak, including unlimited access to a wide array of more than 300 daily updated video clips, costs an additional USD15 to Verizon Wireless calling plan, the company claims. Other services are available at an additional cost.
BroadbandAccess service reportedly allows customers in the greater Denver area to connect wirelessly to the Internet via their laptop at broadband speed. The pricing is USD59.99 per month for current and new customers with any monthly voice plan, and USD79.99 for non-voice customers.
