UK ISP, Broadreach Networks, has revealed that it has joined a two-year EU Commission project to study the business case for mobile satellite broadband.
The project - called MOWGLY (Mobile Wideband Global Link System) - will look at the standards for the provision of broadband access on aircraft, trains and ships. Currently 16 international partners have been tasked with agreeing an understanding of the industry demand for mobile broadband, the commercial uses and the delivery challenges.
A spokesperson for Broadreach Networks said that it is very pleased to be working alongside other leaders in their field to bring the next generation of broadband mobile communications to market, and that MOWGLY is an exciting and significant project that will decide the future for mobile broadband Internet access.
