A website that claimed to offer an electronic version of the new Harry Potter novel by JK Rowling has been shut down.

The new book, 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince', is due to be published later this year.

No electronic versions of any of the Harry Potter books have been released, yet the site claimed to have e-books of the new novel available for USD9.95 and the other titles in the series for USD6.95, reports the BBC.

'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' will go on sale on 16 July in Britain, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
