Virgin Atlantic to offer Podcasting

Virgin Atlantic has announced that it is to launch a new 'Podcasting' service. Podcasting is a way of distributing audio content via the Internet and the airline is the first UK company to create Podcast-specific content along with a branded Podcatcher (software to download the Podcast).

The first Podcast from the airline is a series of four audio guides to New York. They begin with a guide to the top ten restaurants, the second is an insider's guide to shopping, the third is all about 'off-the-beaten-track' New York. The fourth is a guide to the ten things you 'just have to do' if you are on your first trip to the city.

Podcasting enables users to download content to an iPod and listen to it at a time that suits them. The Podcatcher is an application to download and manage Podcast content and gives users the option to automatically receive new content and have it synched to their MP3 player or software.
