Cable & Wireless to interconnect MPLS with Telecom Italia Sparkle

The multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) networks of telecomms company Cable & Wireless and Telecom Italia Sparkle, a subsidiary of Telecom Italia, are to be interconnected to provide enhanced services to carrier customers.
The companies have both developed advanced carrier-grade MPLS services in order to meet the requirements of carriers wishing to provide business critical or time-sensitive IP services, such as voice and video, to customers.
The agreement strengthens the capabilities of Cable & Wireless in Italy and Telecom Italia Sparkle in the UK and enables the carriers to use the other's position in various markets to improve their competitiveness.
Cable & Wireless said the partnership will help to support customers around the world as they move towards IP, enabling competitive and innovative IP and voice products to be established.
