RIM introduces BlackBerry 8703e device on Verizon Wireless EV-DO network

The new BlackBerry 8703e device has been introduced by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq:RIMM)(TSX:RIM), a wireless communications company, on the EV-DO network from Verizon Wireless, a US wireless services provider.

The 8703e, which incorporates advanced device hardware, software and network technologies, is available to customers of Verizon Wireless from 17 September. It features a 35-key QWERTY keyboard, high-resolution LCD screen with intelligent light sensing technology, dedicated phone keys, conference calling, speed dialling, smart dialling, call forwarding and speakerphone.

The device offers Bluetooth support for use with car kits and headsets and enables access to mobile data applications such as 'push' e-mail and web browsing.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server software integrates with IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novel GroupWise. BlackBerry Internet Service enables individuals and smaller business users to access up to ten corporate and personal e-mail accounts, including IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and other ISP e-mail accounts, from the one device.
