Cybertrust, a global information security specialist, released today (30 January) its Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates, which will allow customers to use applications such as Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP Service Pack 2, with confidence in the security of the websites used.
The EVSSL Certificates will check that each company or organisation is a valid business and that their websites have passed an identity check. Also, the EVSSL Certificates enables businesses to provide a visual means to prove to their customers that their business and website are legitimate and not an unauthorised copy, thus offering an efficient way for businesses targeted as high-risk for being copied and other types of Internet-related fraud to prove their validity.
The company's security certificates work by, for example with IE7, changing the address bar to green if the website has been deemed as valid by Cybertrust while no change in address bar colour indicates that the user should continue with caution.
