'Paw prints' donated by cat loving celebrities are to be auctioned online through auction website eBay, to raise money for Cats Protection, a feline welfare charity in the UK, and mark the charity's 80th year.

Participating celebrities were asked to draw around their hand, decorate and sign it for the auction, which will run from 27 September to 6 October.

More than 20 celebrities are supporting the event including Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Rt. Hon David Cameron MP, Sir Patrick Moore, Jilly Cooper, Sir Derek Jacobi, Ricky Gervais, Joanna Lumley, Sir Michael Caine, Gary Lineker, Gareth Southgate, June Whitfield, Prunella Scales, Richard Briers, Ian Rankin, Tamzin Outhwaite and William Roache.

The full list of paw prints available can be viewed online at http://www.cats.org.uk/celebritypaws. The drawings will be on display this month at Cats Protection's National Cat Centre, Sussex, and will be exhibited at the charity's The Aristocats Ball, to be held on 6 October at The Grand Hotel, Brighton.
