Alcatel-Lucent awarded contract by Telekom Malaysia

Communications solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris:ALU) (NYSE:ALU) announced on Monday (18 August) that it has been awarded a two-year frame contract in collaboration with KUB Telekomunikasi Sdn Bhd (KUBTel), a Malaysian telecomms and ICT solution provider, for supplying an Internet protocol (IP)-based fixed broadband access solution for Telekom Malaysia Berhad, a communications service provider in Malaysia.
Alcatel-Lucent's broadband access solution, including 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) and the related 5523 AWS Element Manager, is expected to enable Telekom Malaysia to cost-effectively deploy triple play services and extend its nationwide coverage.
According to the company, Alcatel-Lucent is responsible for the network integration and maintenance, while KUBTel will install and commission the system, as well as provide nationwide technical support.
The value of the contract is estimated at EUR6.5m.
