Qwest named as 2008 Republican National Convention Official Communications Provider

Internet Business News,  June 11, 2008

INTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The Committee on Arrangements (COA) for the 2008 Republican National Convention announced on Tuesday (10 June) that Qwest Communications International Inc (NYSE:Q), a provider of a combination of broadband, video and voice solutions, will serve as the Official Communications Provider for its convention being held between 1 September 2008 to 4 September 2008.

The 2008 Republican National Convention will be held at Saint Paul's Xcel Energy Center and approximately 45,000 delegates, alternate delegates, volunteers, members of the media and other guests are expected to attend the convention.

Qwest will be the exclusive provider of high-speed Internet as well as voice and data lines for the COA. In addition, Qwest also will provide hosting services and 24/7 network management and technical support.

Qwest plans to significantly expand its fibre infrastructure in and around the Xcel Energy Center, the site of the 2008 convention, in anticipation of increased network demand in Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

The company reportedly has already surveyed and verified existing network facilities around the Xcel Energy Center, as well as those serving over 100 major hotels in the metro area. This was done to quickly assess build-out requirements as technology decisions are made, Qwest said.
