National Express East Coast introduces free Wi-Fi at York station

Train operator and station manager National Express East Coast has introduced free wireless Internet across most of the railway station in York, UK.

According to the company, when combined with the free Wi-Fi already available on all National Express East Coast trains, the announcement means travellers on the East Coast Main Line can stay connected from the moment they enter the station until they reach their destination.

The free Wi-Fi zone within the station covers the main concourse, including the waiting rooms and cafes, and platforms 1 to 5. Passengers can access the service by logging on to the network 'nxecwifi_YORK,' the company said.

The network covering the station has been provided by Cityspace Ltd on behalf of National Express East Coast, which manages the station. The wireless Internet connection is provided by Icomera. No financial details were disclosed.
