Thomson & Thomson (Quincy, MA) has announced the launch of its new intellectual property research services with its Patent Document Filing and Retrieval Services for intellectual property attorneys.
The new retrieval process is designed to save time and resources normally associated with compiling and retrieving documents pertaining to a particular patent. The service provides attorneys with the required, detailed trail of patent document correspondence between the inventor, the patent examiner, and other government officials.
The new offering provides on-site filing and retrieval services at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and complements T&T's existing suite of document services, which include trademark and copyright filing and retrieval.

The new T&T Patent Document Filing and Retrieval Services include:
1. Patent Files - Professionally prepared files including original application and initial claims, correspondence between the inventor and the patent examiner, official government notices, etc. The turnaround time for patent files is approximately five days.
2. Patent Document Copies - Individual copies of issued patents, parts of a patent file history or patent assignment. This service offers a cost-effective method in gathering information otherwise unavailable for download on the USPTO Web site.
3. Patent Portfolio - A single, summarized report that uncovers all patents issued to or assigned to a company or person. This comprehensive report is easy to analyze and is a useful due diligence tool that complements a trademark portfolio or copyright claimant search.
4. Patent Chain of Title - This report resembles the assignment history of a trademark and is a useful due diligence tool especially when the original source material must be researched.
The new T&T service provides personalized delivery of applications, assignments, and other documents to the USPTO to efficiently process patent material, as well as ensuring that the documents are filed properly and on time.
The service utilizes T&T's experienced staff with hands-on expertise in tracking and retrieving the hardcopy data necessary to document patent filings and making it easier to obtain certified copies of official actions and notices available only from government agencies.
