Installshield Enables Abria Sql To Integrate Into Windows

Online Product News, Jan, 2001

AbriaSoft, Fremont, Calif., a provider of database solutions, has successfully ported the Abria SQL Standard product to the Windows operating system. This release operates on Windows NT and Windows 2000, and is designed to integrate completely into the Windows platform using InstallShield, the standard Windows installation technology. Unlike scripted installations, Installshield-based installation allows effortless upgrades, and prevents version conflicts.

A free version of the software is now available for download from the AbriaSoft website. The MySQL for Windows is also included in the Abria SQL Standard Suite, which packages the Abria SQL Standard (the latest version of MySQL, PHP, Perl, Apache, O'Reilly's MySQL book and AbriaSoft technical support) and the Abria App Pack (seven popular open source applications which are complimentary to MySQL). The Abria SQL Standard Suite is priced at $99. . "I believe that this port will help us accomplish one of our main goals to make MySQL the most popular Open Source database available. More professionals will be able to use our product now that we have expanded to include the Windows platform," said Mark Gerow, AbriaSoft Project Manager.
