Isvs Take Advantage Of Database Cross-Platform Support
Online Product News, June 1, 2002
Acucorp, Inc., San Diego, an international provider of application development solutions designed to solve mission- critical business issues, has formed an alliance with Pervasive Software(R) Inc. (NASDAQ:PVSW), a leading provider of embedded and Web database software.
Acucorp plans to develop and release an interface that will enable legacy applications to access Pervasive's leading database engine, Pervasive.SQL(TM) 2000i, which combines the high-performance of the Btrieve(TM) transactional engine with the functionality of a relational database management system. As a result, independent software vendors (ISVs) will be able to take advantage of the database's cross-platform support, scalability, performance reliability and flexible deployment - - all at a significantly lower total-cost-of-ownership than other database alternatives.
"Acucorp has always been committed to providing ISVs and others involved in software development with the tools necessary to modernize and enhance their COBOL applications," explains Gerold Ekstrom, Acucorp's vice president, Strategic Directions. "Through our alliance with Pervasive, we can now offer our customers access to this easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain database technology."
Known for its world-class performance and resource-efficient operations, Pervasive.SQL 2000i provides both transactional and relational data access methods. The database, which runs under a number of popular platforms including Windows NT, NetWare and Linux, also offers such low maintenance features as archival logging with roll-forward capabilities, transaction logging, dynamic caching, dynamic file location and index balancing.
"Pervasive.SQL 2000i is built on a long-standing and reliable database technology, Btrieve," said Bruce Flory, vice president, Marketing at Pervasive Software. "This technology, combined with the release of Acucorp's new interface, offers the best-value data management solution for any small to mid-sized business or department."
