Superstar Bloggers' Top Web Hosts Revealed
Online Product News, Sept 1, 2008
Would-be superstar bloggers need no longer fear choosing a host that can't handle the rapid growth in traffic that occurs when a blog hits the big time. Researchers at WhoIsHostingThis.com have revealed who hosts the world's 100 most popular blogs.
It's vital for anyone serious about blogging to make sure they're hosting with a company that's can scale up as their blog grows.
The study offers an at-a-glance guide to hosting companies with proven performance at the top of the blogosphere. The report reveals that the hosting company of choice for top bloggers is Media Temple, a privately owned hosting company based in Culver City, California.
Media Temple hosts 11 of the top 100 blogs, with the runner up, Datagram the proud host of 8 top blogs. Another key finding was the high number of top blogs using free blog hosting services. Eight of the top 100 blogs used free services like Google's BlogSpot and SixApart's TypePad service. The list of sites analysed for the study was drawn from Technorati's ranking of the world's most popular blogs. The list includes many famous names, such as tech guides Lifehacker, Engadget and Gizmodo; political opinion formers The Drudge Report, Daily Kos and The Huffington Post and humor sites PerezHilton and icanhascheezburger.com.
Richard Kershaw of WhoIsHostingThis.com explained why the study matters to budding big time bloggers.
"Choosing hosting often feels like a trivial decision for bloggers starting out. But all it takes is one post to hit a site like Digg.com, and the traffic spike could take their site offline.
"It's vital for anyone serious about blogging to make sure they're hosting with a company that's can scale up as their blog grows." The full report is available at: http://www.whoishostingthis.com/top-blog-hosting.
