On the heels of the magazine's Web site redesign, InformationWeek was tasked with reworking the customer service page to mirror the look and feel of the new site redesign. In addition, it was challenged with revitalizing the functionality and responsiveness of the customer service page, as well as all facets of customer service communications, including Web, phone and emails. Thanks in part to new, action-oriented HTML emails, renewal responses increased 35 to 45 percent. Additionally, new business response improved by using HTML emails stemming from winning direct mail concepts, as well as a very successful effort coming from the editor-in-chief. The magazine's traditional email, pass-along email efforts, and targeted pop-ups were effective, too.

VP, Paid Circulation: Robert Conklin Circulation Director: Anne Osmer Assistant Circulation Manager: Kristin Rice
Interior Design circulation was able to cut expenses over 2001 by 7 percent while increasing contribution by 3 percent. Part of this was due to strategic use of the Internet. At the beginning of the year, the magazine implemented email renewals and online customer service operations that significantly cut down on paper and postage costs. The CM awards judges praised ID's Web site for "terrific use of space, a form broken up in chunks, so the customer is less likely to abandon it...easy to navigate, with the most important subscription information above the fold."
