Educational module explores fundamental radiation safety

Ansell Healthcare Products LLC announced the availability of a new self-study educational module for healthcare professionals. Entitled Basic Considerations of Radiation Safety and Barrier Protection, this module addresses staff, patient, and healthcare issues associated with high radiation exposure situations.

The self-study module, which is available at no charge, has been developed for use by professionals who are responsible for or involved in high radiation exposure environments. Topics (areas) explored in the module include: History of x-rays in medicine; Advantages of the x-ray as a diagnostic tool; Categories of radiation currently used in medicine; Potential negative biological effects of improper protection measures; and Protective shielding in the fluoroscopic environment. The educational module is accredited by the Association of perioOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and has designated this educational activity for a maximum of 1.2 contact hours.
