Healthcare Purchasing News, Feb, 2004

Inova Health System of Falls Church, VA, has selected MedAssets HSCA as its exclusive group purchasing/supply chain services organization. The relationship became effective on Jan. 5. Inova Health System, a not-tot-profit health care system based in Northern Virginia, operates four hospitals and offers other health care services including emergency and urgent care centers, home care, nursing homes, mental health and blood donor services, and wellness classes.

According to Gary Wagner, assistant vice president, Inova Health System, the MedAssets' program will allow a customized supply chain model of vendor contracts to be built around Inova's unique supply portfolio to support their clinicians. The two companies will also work together to further develop Inova's pharmacy price discrepancy and market share monitoring programs. These programs help pharmacies in sure correct contract pricing and proactively monitor market share performance. The programs will be complementary to MedAssets pharmacy price auditing tools.
