PolarCath™ Peripheral Dilatation System

Boston Scientific Corporation has announced that it is now the distributor for the PolarCath[TM] Peripheral Dilatation System, a balloon angioplasty device that com bines dilatation with cryogenic therapy designed to treat atherosclerotic disease of the legs and other peripheral arteries. The PolarCath system differs from conventional balloon angioplasty because it inflates the balloon with pressurized nitrous oxide gas instead of the conventional saline or contrast. This action provides rapid cold dilatation of the diseased artery, a new treatment known as CryoPlasty[TM]
