The AlcNow diabetes monitor, which recently obtained National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program certification for precision and accuracy, measures glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c or A1C) via a quick, inexpensive, single-use test. The disposable, pager-sized device provides quantitative A1C results from a drop of blood in eight minutes, increasing point-of-care access to immediate A1C results without the complexity and high cost of instrument-based systems.
