If he worked for peanuts, wouldn't you like to hove an engineer in every store to keep an eye on refrigeration? He'd watch fixture temperatures, keep a log of performance and call out when conditions weren't right. Although Danfoss isn't giving up any of its engineers, its cost-efficient m2 temperature monitoring and alarm system is ideal for smaller supermarkets, says Paul de Ridder, commercial support manager.

Occupying a space just under 10 by 10 by 2 inches, the m2 monitors, displays, records, stores, prints and issues alarms for a wide variety of data from a refrigeration system. For example, monitoring con include air temperatures, evaporator and condenser temperatures, defrost cycles, rack or compressor failures, cooler and box door status, system pressures and relative humidity. To comply with HACCP guidelines and food code requirements, the logged m2 temperature records can be printed out either by manual command or automatically at scheduled intervals. For alarms, there are a variety of local and re mote delivery options.
