Energy-Saving Voltage Controller
Store Equipment & Design, Nov, 2000
Now there's a new technology that lets you reduce your lighting bill without reducing the level of perceptible light. The Wattman Lighting Voltage Controller provides energy savings ranging from 15 to 35 percent. Wattman works with High Intensity Discharge (HID) and fluorescent lighting systems.
Both types of lighting require full electrical power only when first turned on. Once they reach full power, the electricity can be reduced by as much as one third without any detectable loss of light. Shoppers will see no difference, according to the controller's makers. Wattman can also be used outdoors in parking lots without risking your customers' safety. Units are installed directly at the electrical panel and require no delamping or relamping, and individual fixtures are never touched. Installation is one-step simple, does not interfere with business operations, and can be done by any electrical contractor. The unit has an average life expectancy of 20 maintenance-free years. Complete payback typically takes two years or less, its makers say. Bristol Park Industries, distributors of Wattman units, offers 100 percent financing.
