GlobalShop 2000, the conference and exhibition sponsored by the National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers and produced by Bill Communications' Atlanta division, will be held March 25-27 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
The centerpiece this year is the "Stores of the Future" exhibit, a series of prototype retail environments that show how interactive technology works with current retail design.
This year's show will include the Store Fixturing" Show, a Visual Marketing Show and a Retail Operations and Construction Expo, along with sessions on numerous aspects of retailing.
Sessions this year include management guru Tom Peters speaking on "The Gospel of Business Revolution," Faith Popcorn of Brain Reserve, Inc. covering "Consumer Trends for the 21st Century," and a feng shui expert counseling on modern application of the ancient Chinese art of creating pleasant, prosperous spaces.
Conferences will include "The Future of Supermarket Design," at which several designers will share their thoughts on where store design is headed; "The Urban Building Challenge," featuring Ron Weiss, director of construction at Richter & Ratner, and a panel of construction experts discussing the challenges of building within the confines of the city; and "The Dollars and Sense of Purchasing Fixtures," moderated by NASFM executive director Klein Merriman.
