Too much drive time?

Store Equipment & Design, June, 2000

Maytag Corp. and Ford Motor Co. have unveiled a concept Windstar minivan with a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, TV, washer/dryer, trash compactor and built-in wet/dry vacuum.

The van--for now just a test--also includes a computer that could link to those "appliances of the future" we keep hearing about. A driver could use the system to see how much milk was left in the refrigerator at home before stopping at the supermarket.

According to a recent Associated Press report, moms are the prime target: "In our testing, I think we're going to see that the women generally get it," said E. Kent Baker, vice president of strategic marketing at Maytag. "Everyone is on the go today and very starved for time."
