Kmart pleased by secondary refrigeration systems

Store Equipment & Design, August, 2000 by Marc Sandofsky

According to an article in the May 2000 edition of Contracting Business Magazine, Kmart is so pleased with the results it has seen from the secondary refrigeration systems it has installed, that it will continue to use them on medium-temp systems and eventually expand their use to low-temp systems, once some technical issues have been resolved.

Tony Papagna, Kmart's manager of refrigeration systems design and installation, was interviewed in the article. Papagna said Kmart uses 60 percent less refrigerant with secondary refrigeration systems.

In addition, maintenance costs have been reduced by 45 percent and energy costs have not increased.
