KITCHEN HOOD EXHAUST AND ENERGY EFFICIENT MAKEUP SYSTEM BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM -- DESIGN
1. ON-OFF CONTROL, IN THE "OFF" POSITION: Exhaust fan EF-1 system shall be manually started and stopped at the kitchen hood. When kitchen hood KH-1 (CP-1, TCP-l, on-off) switch SW-1, mounted on the hood control panel CP-l, is placed in the (off, on) position, exhaust fan EF-1 shall be off. Associated, barometric discharge damper D-1 shall be closed, makeup air unit MAU-1 shall be off and pilot light (also mounted on CP-1) shall be energized "red." For sequence of operation for MAU-1 and associated temperature control panel TCP-1, refer to "Back To Basics," issues July, August, September 1996 for 100% outdoor air-handling unit.

2. ON-OFF CONTROL, IN THE "ON" POSITION: When turning the SW-i (switch, starter, pilot light) from "off' to "on," the red pilot light shall go off and a green light shall go on. Exhaust fan EF-1 shall start, discharge damper D-1 shall open based on (EF-1, MAU-1, KH-1) discharge air pressure/flow, and makeup air unit MAU-1 via TCP-1 shall start. MAU-1 discharge air temperature shall be automatically controlled via thermostat T-1 mounted on CP-1.
T-1 shall automatically (signal, shutoff, control) makeup air temperature at perimeter of hood via sensing of supply air temperature transmitter TT-1. T-1 shall provide manual reset adjustment of TT-1 for MAU-1 supply air temperature based on (kitchen, occupant, air) comfort working at the KH-1 (MAU-1 sequence is not included with this test).
3. FIRE CONDITION: In the case of a (smoke, fire, heat) in the area served by the kitchen hood, fire extinguisher transmitter FT-l shall (automatically, manually) shut off EF-1 and MAU-1 and activate the fire (alarm, extinguisher, exhaust) system serving the kitchen hood to put out the fire. When EF-1 stops, discharge damper D-1 shall close.
ANSWERS FOR KITCHEN HOOD EXHAUST AND ENERGY EFFICIENT MAKEUP SYSTEM BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEM -- DESIGN TEST: 1) on-off; off; 2) switch; EF-1; control; occupant 3) fire; automatically; extinguisher.
