Raytheon, Honeywell get Trimble Force 5

GPS World, Nov, 2004

Sunnyvale, California-based Trimble has received an order for the Force 5 GPS module from Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems of El Segundo, California.

Raytheon embeds the militarized P/Y-code selective availability anti-spoofing module (SAASM)-based Force 5 GPS receivers in its Miniature Airborne GPS Receiver Unit (MAGR2000) for a variety of applications, including the F/A-18 Hornet, VH-3D Marine-1 Presidential Helicopter, and V-22 Osprey.

The Force 5 receiver has also been selected for Honeywell navigation systems used in new and upgraded Boeing C-17 military aircraft. Honeywell's Guidance and Navigation Division in Clearwater, Florida, selected Force 5GS for its embedded GPS inertial navigation system (INS) and fast direct Y-code acquisition capabilities. The Force 5 receiver's ability to switch between precision postioning service (PPS) and standard positioning service (SPS) with no loss of continuity factored in the selection decision.
