Pipeline Monitoring System

GPS World, Dec, 2004

Filanda has released the SoftNav Pipeline Monitoring System. This guidance system includes a navigation and logger computer, a graphical course deviation indicator (CDI), an operator's multifunction keypad, and the SoftNav Pipeline Monitoring software. The system is combined with the Navcom's VueStar SF-2050M dualfrequency GPS receiver. Equipped with a single FAA certified triband antenna that receives both GPS and StarFire signals, the system is reported to provide better than 10 centimeters horizontal and 15 centimeters vertical accuracy (1 sigma) navigation in real-time without the need for local reference stations. This system permits the operator to navigate along pipeline planned routes and log the GPS coordinates of the aircraft's trajectory. It can be used as an independent navigation system or be coupled with pipeline leak detection sensors. Filanda Inc., St. Raymond, Quebec, Canada.
