Executive Commentary:

To successfully meet the military challenges in the current environment, as well as transformation and modernization requirements, capabilities--such as agility, precision guidance and situational awareness--are critical to the warfighter. GPS is playing a major role in assisting the U.S. Department of Defense in achieving these objectives.

Rockwell Collins is leveraging its 25-year legacy of providing advanced militarized GPS solutions and recent research and development initiatives to provide creative solutions for these warfighter needs. With more than 300,000 receivers fielded worldwide, Rockwell Collins' navigation portfolio includes GPS products and systems for precision-guided munitions, and ground hand-held and embedded applications, along with airborne solutions.

Rockwell Collins has been selected by the GPS Joint Program Office for full-rate production and delivery of Defense Advanced GPS Receivers [DAGRs] over the next eight years. Rockwell Collins DAGR offers the smallest, lowest-weight handheld receiver for the warfighter, with improved man-machine interface [GUI, maps], ease of use, and a proven design that has passed environmental, serial port and S/W testing for a low-risk, field-ready unit.

Recently, the U.S. Army Commmunications-Electronics Command [CECOM] selected Rockwell Collins as the supplier of GPS engines to the U.S. Army, enabling support of soldiers on the three-dimensional digital battlespace. This contract is for development of ground-based GPS receiver application modules [GB-GRAM] that will be used in communications and weapons platforms during the next 10 years.

In addition to our successes in handheld GPS applications, Rockwell Collins has a long history of providing reliable, accurate navigation products for precision-guided missile and munitions systems. The latest technology innovations and precision-guided munition [PGM] expertise are now being leveraged into new Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module [SAASM] and digital GPS anti-jamming solutions.

Rockwell Collins is at the forefront of developing secure, next-generation GPS solutions. The U.S. Air Force has awarded Rockwell Collins a contract to study the advancement and risk associated with the technology required for the development of modernized military GPS user equipment [MUE]. The objective of this contract is for government and industry to obtain a more complete understanding of the technical and implementation requirements and associated risks regarding MUE. This includes the implementation, certification, integration and operation of the MUE Security Architecture.

Rockwell Collins has a proven track record of delivering advanced GPS products that enable enhanced situational awareness. Our commitment to the advancement of GPS and navigation technologies will further safeguard and provide advantage to the warfighter.
